Who I work with
I help executives, owners, governing boards and lenders improve the long-term role, relevance and sustainability of their healthcare organizations. My professional energy is focused solely on healthcare entities, including physician practices, health systems and other providers of healthcare services.
My specialty
With nearly 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, my “sweet spots” include: margin improvement, revenue cycle transformation, post-transaction integration planning, clinical resources management, sustainability planning and turnaround management.
Results I have delivered
I have led teams that materially improved provider capacity and patient access for large physician groups and other ambulatory entities, both System-affiliated and independent.
I and my colleagues have helped many provider entities provoke rapid and material improvement in cash position via process improvement, cost reduction and revenue enhancement interventions.
We have developed operating plans to guide the integration of newly acquired business units in order to optimize “system-ness” and achievement of performance goals.
Our team has helped executives and owners obtain timely and actionable insight by development of “100-day action plans,” operational dashboards and other tools to monitor and manage their businesses.
I have advised and led many healthcare companies through turnaround, bankruptcy and other de-stabilizing events, often in the role of interim executive.
Unique things about me
I am not a career consultant. The first 18 years of my career were spent in three different health systems – first as CFO and CEO of two community hospitals, and then COO of a large University health system. As a consultant, that “I’ve been in your seat” experience enables me to provide impactful recommendations that are realistic, appropriately aggressive and implementable.
When I am not at work
I spend as much time as possible outdoors. I enjoy hiking, cycling, swimming, fishing, motorcycling and even lawncare. It’s all therapy to me and keeps my batteries charged. I especially enjoy spending time with my three children and getting involved in my church and community. I have served on the board of a variety of professional, civic and community organizations.
People say I am
Honest, witty, dedicated and someone you can trust to get things done.
