September 7, 2026 – James Lockhart, Aprio’s Real Estate Industry Leader and Tax Partner, is named Chair of the Real Estate Private Equity Committee of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section. The appointment recognizes James’ work at the intersection of real estate, tax, and securities, and it puts him at the center of the national conversation on private real estate capital.
The American Bar Association’s Real Estate Private Equity Committee serves as a forum for education, leadership and collaboration among professionals involved in the real estate private equity sector. As Chair, James will assist in guiding discussions on emerging trends and issues shaping the industry.
Previously serving as Vice Chair, James has been an active leader within the organization and a trusted voice on issues impacting real estate investors, developers, private equity sponsors and REITs.
With 25 years of experience advising real estate developers, investors, private equity sponsors, REITs and family offices on complex tax structures, capital transactions and investment strategy, James brings deep industry experience to the role. At Aprio, he leads the firm’s Real Estate practice, assisting clients as they navigate an increasingly dynamic real estate environment.
