Overview
Brad is a Tax Partner at Aprio’s Insurance practice. For more than 25 years, he has focused on the taxation of insurance and reinsurance entities. Brad serves captive owners and managers as well as traditional property and casualty insurers, and builds relationships grounded in knowing each client’s business, not just the tax law.
Experience
Brad has spent his entire career in the insurance industry, initially on the company and brokerage side before moving his focus towards tax. He has extensive experience in insurance taxation at the domestic, international, and state and local levels, along with a particular focus on captive insurance company taxation. Brad previously served as head of tax for two publicly traded auto insurers, growing a three-person team into a group of 15 and guiding the tax function through an initial public offering.
Most recently, Brad co-led the US captive insurance practice at a Big Four accounting firm, with a focus on tax matters, including heading the global compliance and reporting function. He advises on the captive market’s most scrutinized issues, including micro-captive arrangements and self-procurement taxes.
