Overview
With more than 14 years of experience across the national security ecosystem, Connor McCubrey leads commercial due diligence and strategic growth engagements for private equity investors, venture capital firms, defense technology companies, and government contractors in Aprio’s Aerospace, Defense, and Government (ADG) Advisory practice. His background spanning military service, congressional affairs, and strategic advisory helps clients navigate complex, highly regulated defense and national security markets and make sound investment decisions.
Experience
Since joining Nextfed—now acquired by Aprio—Connor has led and supported over 90 commercial diligence and strategic growth engagements spanning software, hardware, services, autonomy, intelligence, aerospace, and emerging technology sectors. He advises clients on market positioning, acquisition targets, customer prioritization, and long-term growth strategies at the intersection of national security and technology.
Prior to advisory work, Connor served for more than nine years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, including as a Defense Legislative Fellow and Director of Legislative Affairs for the Marine Corps’ Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration.

Connor holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, a Master of Arts in Security Studies from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.
