Overview

Jim specializes in serving growth-oriented businesses in the real estate sector, particularly in multifamily housing. He has extensive experience working in the affordable housing, historic credit, and student housing sectors, as well as with high-net-worth families who own multigenerational businesses. Jim guides his real estate clients through all the stages of their special projects, from structuring, financing, and property development and management to assessing historic and low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) opportunities.

Experience

In his work with high-net-worth families and business owners, Jim focuses on providing income and estate tax planning, succession planning, and specialized family planning and growth strategies. He also has a deep knowledge of information systems and helps facilitate mergers and acquisitions for family-owned businesses.

Throughout the course of his career serving business owners, Jim has grown adept to and become well-versed in the often emotional complexities involved in running a family business. He provides the advice, perspective, and technical insights his clients need to successfully navigate those complexities and set realistic goals for the future.

Education & Affiliations

Jim received his Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Georgia.

Jim is passionate about serving both his local and professional communities. Over the years, he has contributed his time and leadership to many notable organizations. He served on the Capital Campaign Committee for the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta and served as Board Member and Campaign Chair for the United Way of Lowndes County. At Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Jim was a member of the Building Fund and Staff Parish Committee. He also served as a Board Member for the Valdosta-Lowndes County Housing Authority. Jim also played a key leadership role at Valwood School, where he served on the Board, the Executive Committee, and as Head of Finance.
