Overview
Troy serves as an Audit Partner at Aprio. He earned his CPA license in 2013 and has worked in public accounting since 2009. Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Troy worked for a leading, global accounting and consulting firm in Anchorage, Alaska, where he ran audits* of numerous closely held business and nonprofits.
Experience
In his role, Troy is responsible for making sure all client financial reviews and audits are completed in accordance with required auditing standards and individual state compliance regulations. In addition to audit and attest services, he consults with companies on unique GAAP rules and implementations, potential M&A transactions, IFRS reporting, due diligence requests, and operational controls.
Troy has been instrumental in developing the firm’s construction and cannabis practices. He is actively involved with organizations that support the construction industry, including the American Subcontractors Association (ASA), Associated Minority Contractors of Arizona (AMCA), Arizona Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA), and the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI). Regarding the firm’s cannabis practice, Troy was largely responsible for developing and implementing audit methodologies specifically tailored for the unique compliance and reporting issues cannabis businesses face. He has an intricate understanding of dispensary operations, controls, and metrics, and works closely with Aprio’s Tax team and clients to consult on 280E allocations and methodologies.
Education & Affiliations
Troy is a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management from Brigham Young University–Idaho.
