
March 25, 2026 – Lexy Kessler, CPA, CGMA, Chairman of the American Institute of CPAs and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants and Partner at Aprio, was featured in the Journal of Accountancy for her leadership as AICPA chair and the impact she has made throughout her year of service.
Lexy reflected on stepping into the role and the unexpected energy she found in connecting with professionals across the country. She emphasized how her work chairing the National Pipeline Advisory Group reinforced the importance of listening as the profession responds to barriers to CPA licensure. “The organization was listening,” she said. “It was a very powerful lesson to me that people need to be heard.” She added that this mindset continues to shape her contributions to the AICPA and CIMA’s Rise2040 initiative.
She also spoke to the promise she sees in emerging talent, highlighting the curiosity and awareness she encounters when meeting with students. Lexy encouraged future CPAs to embrace opportunities early, sharing that the relationships built throughout a career often become invaluable partnerships later on.
