Dan is a partner in Aprio’s Real Estate and Construction practice, bringing over 17 years of tax and accounting experience to clients in the commercial real estate development, construction, professional services, restaurant, and investment sectors. He primarily advises S-corporations and partnerships, particularly commercial and multi-family real estate developers who own over $100 million in gross assets, helping them grow strategically and plan for long-term success.
Experience
With his extensive experience in rental real estate taxation, construction contractor taxation, and Section 1031 like-kind exchanges, Dan helps clients unlock tax savings and structure deals that align with their business goals. He is highly skilled in partnership taxation, guiding clients through complex M&A transactions and tax structuring strategies that deliver value across the business life cycle.
A few of his career highlights at Aprio include structuring a $300 million commercial portfolio roll-up to support family and estate planning, advising on 1031 exchange strategies that brought in new equity and deferred $5 million in federal and state income taxes, and reducing property tax exposure through strategic real estate sales structuring.
Education & Affiliations
Dan earned both his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy and Master of Accountancy degrees from the University of Georgia. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA).
