As a partner at Aprio, Doug specializes in leading large audit* engagements for publicly and privately held businesses and serving as their trusted business advisor. He specializes in leveraging Aprio’s resources to perform high-quality audits and works closely with senior executives in a range of industries, including homebuilding, real estate, manufacturing, employee benefit plans and financial services.
Experience
With more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, Doug brings deep technical knowledge to his role. Before joining Aprio, he spent over nine years at PwC, where he worked in Portland, Oregon; San Jose, California; Auckland, New Zealand; and London, England in the firm’s SEC Reporting and Global Capital Markets Group.
As an experienced technician, he understands the unique reporting, operational, and compliance challenges his clients face and approaches each engagement with a practical mindset and a deep appreciation for industry nuance. His experience includes working with both established market leaders and growth-oriented companies, helping them navigate complex transactions, internal control matters, and evolving regulatory expectations.
Doug also has extensive experience providing employee benefit plan assurance services to plan sponsors throughout the Pacific Northwest. His work in the employee benefit plans space and dedication to the practice area earned him an Advanced Defined Contribution Plans Audit Certificate from the AICPA.
Education & Affiliations
Doug earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from the University of Iowa and is a licensed CPA in the state of Oregon. His professional affiliations include the American Association of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. He’s a member of the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center.
