Overview
Jin Gwan Kim has more than 22 years of experience across public accounting, corporate finance, and technology. As Tax Principal and CoLeader of Aprio’s Korean Practice, Jin supports Korean inbound organizations throughout the full investment lifecycle—from site selection and credits and incentives evaluation to entity structuring, compliance, and ongoing crossborder tax strategy. He is known for his collaborative, growthfocused leadership style and his ability to help CEOs, CFOs, and management teams navigate the evolving tax landscape as they expand U.S. operations.
Experience
He has extensive experience serving manufacturing-focused inbound companies, particularly in the automotive, heavy industry, electric vehicle, and renewable energy sectors. After starting his career at Aprio, Jin spent over a decade at three Big 4 firms advising Fortune 500 and global clients on tax provisions, federal and state compliance, controversy matters, and cross-border planning. He returned to Aprio after 10 years, drawn by the firm’s commitment to building a strong Korean Practice and the opportunity to support Korean companies expanding in the U.S.
Earlier in his career, Jin held a seven-year position as a software engineer in Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd’ R&D Center, developing a new architecture for PC−Digital TV by using X86 CPU and a standalone decoder, accomplishing advanced functionality for the web browsing on a television.
Education & Affiliations
Jin earned a Master’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the AICPA.
