Overview
Laura Walker has served as Aprio’s General Counsel since 2020 and Chief Risk Officer since 2025. With over 20 years of legal experience in both private practice and multinational corporate environments, she leads Aprio’s legal strategy across M&A, litigation, intellectual property, employment matters, corporate governance, and legal innovation, as well as overseeing Aprio’s Professional Practice Group, which encompasses the National Tax Office, the National Audit & Assurance Office, and enterprise risk management.
Laura also serves on the board of Aprio’s captive insurance company and advises Aprio Legal, an alternative business structure (ABS) law firm registered in Arizona. Her leadership has been instrumental in helping Aprio adopt a forward-thinking alternative practice structure (APS), positioning the firm to scale operations and enhance its service model.
Experience
Laura has extensive experience in commercial contracts, litigation management, M&A, and legal practice management. She has been integral to Aprio’s completion of more than 30 acquisitions during her tenure, including Aprio’s strategic partnership with Charlesbank in August 2024.
Education & Affiliations
Laura graduated with honors from Wellesley College and earned her J.D. from Hamline University School of Law. She has long been active in the Wellesley College alumnae community and enjoys concerts and the North Georgia mountains. During her tenure with Aprio, Laura has been recognized multiple times in The Legal 500 and as a recipient of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2025 Corporate Counsel Awards – Dealmaker Award. She frequently speaks at legal and accounting industry conferences on such topics as alternative business structure law firms and legal leadership in accounting firms.
