As Advisory Practice Leader at Aprio, Neal Beggan brings more than 25 years of experience in risk management, IT audit*, and strategic consulting. Known for his visionary leadership and ability to build high-performing teams, Neal is guiding the national expansion of Aprio’s advisory business. Neal’s leadership is instrumental in evolving Aprio’s advisory platform to meet the demands of a dynamic marketplace, integrating data, digital transformation, and process improvement to help clients navigate change with clarity and confidence.
Experience
Before joining Aprio, Neal was the Mid-Atlantic Region leader and local Market Leader at a national accounting and advisory firm in Washington, D.C., where he drove growth, collaboration and transformation across all service lines. He has led risk advisory teams across various industries, including financial services, healthcare, professional services and technology. Neal specializes in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), cybersecurity, internal audit, and regulatory frameworks like SOX 404, SOC 1/2/3 and HIPAA. He also has experience in business development and performance management. Neal’s focus is on scaling technology-enabled solutions and improving client support throughout the business lifecycle.
Education & Affiliations
Neal earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University and holds multiple professional designations, including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified in Risk Management Assurance* (CRMA). He is an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ISACA. Additionally, Neal sits on the Board of the Northern Virginia Chamber (NVC) and the School of Accounting Guiding Executive (SAGE) board at James Madison University and is a member of the 2025 Leadership of Greater Washington (LGW) class.
