ATLANTA – September 29, 2026 – Aprio, the 20th largest business advisory and accounting firm in the U.S., today announces Brad Schock joins the firm as an Insurance Tax Partner. Brad will continue the growth of Aprio’s insurance tax capabilities across captive insurance, traditional insurance, and reinsurance, guiding clients through the tax complexities of insurance structures, from formation to ongoing compliance.
The addition reflects Aprio’s continued investment in industry-focused capabilities, pairing depth in a specialized market with the reach of an integrated advisory platform. Insurance organizations are operating with rising regulatory scrutiny, cross-border complexity, and shifting risk financing strategies. Captive structures have moved from a niche tool to a mainstream part of how companies manage risk, and the tax questions that come with them are harder to answer alone.
“Insurance is a market where technical depth is the starting point, and trust is what moves the relationship forward,” said Richard Kopelman, CEO of Aprio. “Brad has worked inside carriers and advised them. Our insurance clients get a partner who knows their business from the inside, and a firm that can grow with them.”
Based in Cleveland, Brad brings more than 25 years focused on the taxation of insurance and reinsurance entities. His experience spans captive insurance taxation across domestic, international, and state and local matters, along with property and casualty insurance tax and the issues facing publicly traded carriers. He serves captive owners and managers as well as traditional property and casualty insurers. Most recently, he co-led the U.S. captive insurance practice at a Big Four firm, where he headed the global compliance and reporting function. Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Miami University, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He serves on the captive finance committee of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) and volunteers as vice president of Marilyn’s Voice, a dog rescue organization.
