With over 30 years of experience working in or with CPA firms, including the Big Four, Paul Kiel has spent the past 23 years specializing in association and practice management for CPA firms. In his current practice at Aprio, Paul works with mid-market CPA firms that are looking to grow, learn new best practices, and implement changes. He is keen on collaborating with forward-thinking leadership teams who put innovation at the forefront of growth.

Paul specializes in practice management, profit improvement, best practices, thought leadership, and insights into what’s happening in the public accounting industry. He is skilled in analyzing benchmarking surveys, taking the information there and comparing it to top performing firms, and helping member firms implement best practices to succeed. Paul is analytical, open to change, and works directly with leadership on strategy. His goal is to be a trusted advisor to members, understanding their goals and helping them succeed.
Paul’s background is in audit and accounting. His audit and accounting industry experience includes clients in manufacturing, distribution, service organizations, nonprofit, healthcare, insurance, government, and transportation. He has previously served as a consultant specializing in human resources and information technology consulting. His article “Challenges and payoffs: Implementing the new standards” was published in the January 2008 issue of the Journal of Accountancy. The article focused on the risk standards introduced by Statements on Auditing Standards Nos. 104−111.
Education & Affiliations
Paul earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Illinois State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.
