As a Partner on Aprio’s Information Assurance Services team, Powell uses his technical knowledge and strong understanding of business processes, IT controls, and data security to help clients safeguard and grow their businesses. He is a seasoned information assurance* professional with specialization in SOC reporting, HITRUST CSF and ISO certification, and risk management.
Experience
Working closely with CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CTOs, and CISOs of healthcare and financial services companies, Powell helps clients identify the right information privacy, security, and compliance frameworks to effectively manage risk and address the unique business requirements of their customers and stakeholders.
Results-driven and outcome-focused, Powell has performed over 500 successful SOC and HITRUST reporting engagements and has significant experience executing HIPAA, data security, and privacy readiness assessments. He uses his deep experience to help clients achieve sustainable information risk management, control costs, and gain efficiencies in managing multiple compliance frameworks and requirements. On average, Powell has been able to reduce fees by 40% on each subsequent engagement as clients add additional compliance requirements to their portfolios.
Education & Affiliations
Powell earned his bachelor’s degree in management of information systems from Florida State University. He serves as the Finance Chair and member of the Board of Directors for the Technology Association of Georgia’s Digital Health Society. He also serves as the chairman of the TAG Digital Health Leadership Summit.
