
Overview
As a Director at Aprio, Shan serves as a key firm technical advisor and provides in-depth technical accounting consultation and communication to client engagement teams and others related to accounting and auditing technical and compliance matters.
Experience
Shan has more than 11 years of public accounting experience, including two years with EY in its financial accounting advisory practice and seven years with PwC in its audit and global capital market practices. Shan spent three years in China, mainly assisting in the U.S. IPO of Chinese companies and providing ongoing support to SEC registrants, as well as helping with conversion projects among U.S. GAAP, IFRS and Chinese Accounting Standards.
Shan has helped a number of IPO clients with their registration filings, as well as complex accounting issues such as preferred shares, convertible notes and share-based payments. Shan also has extensive experience working with technology and software companies on revenue recognition, and recently assisted a Fortune 15 company with their revenue convergence effort to automate revenue accounting for both the current and future revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606). In addition, Shan has assisted with a number of business acquisitions, including a $4.7 billion acquisition of a U.S. company by a Chinese entity under IFRS and a $2 billion U.S. company by a leading auto part retailer under U.S. GAAP. Shan also has hands-on experience with IFRS, and has worked on various multinational clients to help identify GAAP differences and assist with the GAAP conversion efforts.
Education & Affiliations
Shan has a Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia and is a certified public accountant licensed in Georgia. Shan is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
