ATLANTA – December 10, 2020 – The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Standing Ovation Recognition Program has recognized Aprio Director, Theodore (Teddy) Brown, as one of 22 outstanding young CPAs in Litigation Support & Forensic Accounting Services.
Brown, along with a select group of CPAs age 40 and younger from across the country, was honored at the AICPA’s 2020 Forensic & Valuation Services (FVS) Conference in Las Vegas.
“Teddy is a dynamic young CPA who is driving positive results in forensic services and supporting the future value of the accounting profession,” said Jeannette Koger, the AICPA’s Vice President of Advisory Services and Credentialing. “He is a high achiever who has demonstrated significant accomplishments in forensic accounting, and he provides exemplary service to his employer, peers, and community.”
The Standing Ovation Program recognizes young CPAs who go above and beyond in giving back to their companies, their communities, and the accounting profession. Recipients also exhibit exemplary professional achievement in the specialty areas of forensic accounting and business valuation. Requirements for nomination to the Standing Ovation program for the FVS specialty area include maintaining an active CPA license, being an AICPA member in good standing, and holding either a Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) or Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) specialty credential.
Teddy joined Aprio’s Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting group in 2011. As a forensic accountant, Teddy works with clients to help them through multi-million-dollar litigation claims and theft losses. Most notably, he helped unravel a $1.4 billion Ponzi scheme, the fourth largest in U.S. history. Teddy is active in the forensic accounting industry and has been recognized for his outstanding work by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, named to their 40 Under Forty class of 2017 and by his alma mater Emory University, named to their 40 Under Forty Alumni class of 2018. Teddy is also an active community volunteer with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer’s Foundation where he represents their clients in pro bono work.
“Teddy is a vital member of our team and has been integral to our growth and the success of our clients,” said Chris Grippa, Partner-in-Charge of Aprio’s Litigation Support and Forensic Accounting group. “We’re proud but not surprised by Teddy’s recognition from the AICPA and look forward to supporting his continued contributions to Aprio and the profession.”
