UPDATE: Due to the blizzard and recent closures, GSA granted the request for extension for the Health IT SIN RFI originally due this Friday, January 29, 2016.  The deadline is extended to February 8, 2016.  An amendment to the RFI will be posted later today.

UPDATE:  On January 20, 2016, General Services Administration announced it released a second Request for Information RFI regarding comments for Schedule 70 Health IT SIN.  Based on the comments from the prior RFI, GSA is moving forward to incorporate the Health IT SIN into the 70IT GSA Schedule.  From GSA’s perspective, the Health IT SIN will increase the visibility and access of Health IT computing services to its federal customers and industry partners will have the opportunity to uniquely describe their Health IT services.

GSA is requesting that Industry provide feedback on the Health IT SIN with relevant information such as Health IT SIN definition; laws and regulations; vendor’s capabilities and evaluation; terms and conditions; and, security requirements.  The results of the RFI will be used to implement the new Health IT Special Item Number (SIN) in an upcoming refresh the Schedule 70 solicitation.

The deadline to respond to the RFI is January 29, 2016

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) announced it will partner with General Services Administration (GSA) for its Health Information Technology (HIT) procurements. Since market research showed an overlap between the agencies’ contract vehicles, DHA decided that a partnership will promote outcome standardization, streamline the procurement process, and reduce cost.

As part of this comprehensive business approach, DHA will meet its HIT objectives by placing orders against GSA’s portfolio of contract vehicles such as Alliant, Alliant SB, 8(a) Stars II, VETS and Schedule 70 while planning how to incorporate upcoming vehicles like Alliant 2 and VETS 2. Additionally, DHA will consult with GSA in order to incorporate a new Special Item Number (“SIN”) under GSA’s Schedule 70 for Health Information Technology to expedite the offering of new technology in the federal marketplace.

DHA and GSA are hosting an Industry Day at GSA headquarters on January 20th to discuss program strategy and processes with the Health IT community and interested contractors. Unfortunately, all seats for both sessions were filled in less than a week. DHA is planning to record the event and make the video available to those who could not attend. If you would like a recording of the event or to get on the list of interested parties for a potential future industry day, contact the DHA at industryday@dha.mil as soon as possible.
