Overview

With nearly 10 years of professional experience, Patrick represents clients in a broad range of tax controversy matters. His proficiency encompasses advising clients on all aspects of tax audits* and controversies with the IRS and state tax authorities. His skills have been imperative to the development and negotiation of numerous successful resolutions during the audit and appeals processes, as well as the development of strategies to mitigate potential audit risk. Patrick works with all types and sizes of taxpayers, including individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates.

Experience

Patrick specializes in assisting clients with penalty abatement disputes, entity classification issues, defense of tax positions, and debt collection and resolution matters, including negotiating installment agreements, offers in compromise, and lien and levy disputes. He also focuses on identity theft resolution and related administrative matters. As the “fixer” of client disputes with the IRS and state agencies, he excels at finding effective and often creative means to achieve favorable resolutions for clients using his knowledge in legal research and analysis, IRS and state practice and procedure, and written and oral advocacy.

Education & Affiliations

Patrick earned a JD from Rutgers University-Camden School of Law, an MBA from Rutgers University-Camden School of Business, and a BS in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. He also holds an LLM in taxation from Temple University and is an active member of the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
