Richard Kopelman Speaks to Leadership, Mindset and People-First Culture at Aprio

April 28, 2025 – Richard Kopelman, CEO of Aprio, joined Phil Whitman and David on, people-first firm at Aprio. In the episode, “The LuckMyth: Why Proactive Leaders Win More” published on April 17, 2025, Richard reflected on how Aprio’s values-driven approach has shaped the firm’s evolution.

Richard discussed how Aprio lives out its name – meaning “head and heart” — through 31 Fundamentals, which guide team member behavior and decision-making. Team members practice the fundamentals daily through conversations, sharing a story or connection in each meeting. Since changing its name from Habif, Arogeti & Wynne in 2017, Aprio has reimagined how to build a people-first culture that puts clients and team members first.

That commitment has earned Aprio numerous culture recognition awards over the years. While Aprio has expanded rapidly – adding services, investing in infrastructure, and expanding the firm’s footprint to over 30 locations – Richard emphasized that growth is the result of focusing on people. Richard shared “The best chapters are yet to be written.”
