Courtney works closely with business owners and leaders in the real estate sector and professional services industries, including legal and medical practices. With over 20 years of public accounting experience, her technical acumen across audit and tax enables her to achieve a higher understanding of her clients’ businesses, helping clients prepare for what’s next for their business. Her specialties include corporate tax, financial reporting, internal controls, consolidated multi-state returns, and trust taxation.
Experience
Courtney began her career as an intern at Haynes Strand and Company where she built her now decades-long career from the ground up. The firm later merged to become LBA Haynes Strand.
In her practice within Aprio, Courtney specializes in strategic tax planning and growth consulting for corporations and partnerships, helping clients identify tax exposures, mitigate risk, and maximize available tax credits to enhance profitability. Her deep understanding of her clients’ businesses allows her to develop comprehensive strategies that reduce tax liabilities and support long-term success.
Courtney frequently collaborates with her fellow Aprio professionals to help clients respond quickly to growth opportunities. She is known for being proactive, knowledgeable, future-focused, and always on the lookout for opportunities. A career highlight includes helping a client identify and claim $500,000 in R&D tax credits.
Education & Affiliations
Courtney attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned both her Master of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA).
An active member of the community, Courtney has served as a Board Trustee and Treasurer for the Greensboro Historical Museum and as Treasurer of the Summerfield Charter Academy Parent Council.
